I know! You are leaving the place you are at to escape to the beauty and magic of Sedona you see above. Rest assured, it IS still possible to find even in the busiest times of year, if you get expert advice on where to go and what to avoid.
First off, IGNORE your GPS. Your GPS does not tell you if there is major traffic, construction, accidents, bathroom stops, roadside photos or snack stops. For camping you need to arrive well before dark to pick out your spot. If you cannot arrive before dark, and you booked a consultation I can give you an alternative idea of where to camp along the way that is easy to access at night.
Don't take highway 179 into Sedona. Just trust me on this one. Take highway 260 into Cottonwood first. At the very busiest times, you might avoid a 2 hour wait.
You might consider bringing your bike for in town cruising. I host scavenger hunts in Uptown http://creativesoulscavengerhunts.com and have started to use my ebike to get there and back, sometimes avoiding 30 minutes of traffic each way and major parking issues. For this reason i start my Sedona and Jerome hunts by 10 am this time of year to ensure a higher quality experience, less traffic and happier locals.
The good news is that the traffic is in certain places and NOT in certain places.. you just need to have a bit of a plan to know what to avoid and when to avoid it.
